I live to sew and I sew to live!

My mother not only taught me to sew, but encouraged my creativity through drawing and painting at a young age. My first sewing projects were clothes for my dolls, myself, and once I even created a television set for my room – all out of fabric!

Sewing my clothing has always been a way to express myself, and I have always been fascinated with the stylish fashions of the 1950’s. I began collecting vintage dress patterns in college, and currently have over 400 patterns from the 1930’s through the 1960’s. (My husband still doesn’t understand why I NEED them all, but then again, why does he need 100 different kinds of screwdrivers?)

Entering college I was very eager to explore all aspects of art, and earned a BA in General Studio Arts before continuing on to complete my BFA majoring in Fiber Arts. I learned all about hand dyeing and silks screening fabrics, and my BFA work includes corsets, dresses, and aprons made from my own fabrics. My Fiber Arts professor used only Bernina machines in the classroom, and inspired me to buy my first Bernina.

I have just started a new job with Bernina as a National Educator. I am currently learning all there is to know about Bernina sewing machines, sergers, and software. Next year I will be travelling nationwide to spread my enthusiasm for all things Bernina.
