Gayle Hillert
She's been an avid sewer since she was a young girl. What is her sewing niche?
I began my career with Bernina when I owned and operated a Bernina sewing machine dealership in Stevens Point, Wis. In 1992, I joined the Bernina of America staff as a freelance educator who traveled throughout the country teaching hundreds of Bernina dealers and consumers.
I was hired in 1995 as director of marketing support services. In 1997, I was named to the senior management team of Bernina of America, serving as vice president of education before taking on my current role in early 2007 as senior product manager for Bernina International. I now oversee the Bernina international product development team that is focused on the development of revolutionary new products that continue the Bernina tradition of innovation and consumer satisfaction
I earned a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in counseling from Auburn University. I am an accomplished instructor and author, particularly on the topics of sewing for children and heirloom sewing. I have published several books and my projects have been featured in national and international publications.
