Agent 008: The Red Case Caper

The president of Bernina of America, Martin Favre, is a very creative person. Born and educated in Switzerland, he came to the United States with his family sixteen years ago and has been the vision and brains behind the growth of the company ever since. His background is finance and marketing but his interests are varied - ranging from sports to movies to politics - he is well-read and can speak on any topic.

I tell you all this as a preamble to the video you are about to see. Martin began a tradition many years ago at our annual dealer convention, Bernina University, by making his entrance in a memorable way - usually having something to do with the theme of Bernina University or the location. In Dallas, he rode in on a longhorn steer; in Atlanta, a motorcycle. When in San Diego, in honor of their famous zoo, he dressed as a gorilla. In Kansas City eight years ago he dressed as Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz."

This year Martin starred as double agent 008, and his mission was top secret - bringing the new Series 8 machines to the United States amidst many attempts to foil his mission. Love the video and can hardly wait to get my new 830. Have always loved the mooing cow when you test your speaker on the 200/730, and my husband dubbed the trumpet fanfare at startup, Hail to the Queen! It's nice to start my sewing with a smile. Gayle, you must have the best job in the world!

This video is absolutely hilarious & somebody should put it on YouTube! It's great to see Bernina trying to shake off the stuffy perception some people have about the company. BTW I adore by Bernie 1230 & Artista 630...I'm also drooling over the new 830!!

Too funny, it is great to know that "the big boss" has such a great sense of humor. Oh, did I mention, he seems to have enjoyed dressing in drag? No wonder he is able to anticipate all of our needs as sewing women. I am so eager to get my hands on one of those glorious new machines!

Oh - I finally get it... he's being chased by VIKINGS.... Get it... Vikings. Like the brand of machine. Well better to be chased by a viking than the 'f' word. PFAFF.
That video is TOOO CLEVER! What will you wacky crazy folks think of next. I'm so glad I've already put my money down on the new 830. I can't wait to embroider at top speed.
