Piece, Love and Quilts!

Did you know Benartex is having a contest featuring their new Woodstock and City Girl fabric collections? I've been collecting fat quarters - I'm especially partial to the brown & blue & green City Girl colorway (back right). This stack might become a lightweight throw - something to take out on the porch on chilly spring evenings - with big blocks, maybe just rectangles with a layer of flannel in the middle. I love the bright colors of the Woodstock fabrics, too (left & front) - these go great in my office - maybe I need a little quilt in here, too? Too bad I'm not eligible to enter the competition! Contest prizes include a BERNINA aurora 440QE, a trip to Quilt Festival, deluxe software from Electric Quilt, and - just imagine! - a year's worth of fabrics from Benartex. Visit www.benartex.com for more information on The Piece, Love and Quilts Contest.

Hi All -

I have the bernina aurora 440 QE, and I am having trouble with the needle threader. I can hardly ever get the automatic threader to work. So, I do the usual squint and hope for the best routine. Ayy ideas or suggestions...
thanks

There's a little wire hook in the threader that pulls the thread through the eye of the needle. The trick is to position the thread so it will be caught in the hook as it moves backward through the needle. 1) Push down on the threader lever; the little wire should swing around and come through the eye of the needle. If it doesn't, it might be bent; the technician at the BERNINA store can check this for you. If it's bent and doesn't poke through the eye of the needle, the needle threader won't work. 2) Keeping the lever pressed down, wrap the thread around the hook: down and to the left , then around and to the right. 3) Sweep the thread up the point of the needle and into the hook of the wire. You'll be able to tell when it catches. 4) Gently release the lever, allowing the hook to pull back through the needle, pulling the thread with it. 5) When the threader is fully released there should be a loop of thread behind the eye of the needle. Pull it toward the back until the end pulls through (long-handled tweezers can be helpful for this). Hope this helps! Jo

Big block quilt would be really fun and cozy.

I made something similar with amy b. fabric and then I used the butterfly that is built into the 640 embroidery as the quilting. it was very pretty. the jewel butterfly not laurel's.

Will you show it when your done?

That's exactly what I was thinking, Glorianne :) These fabric are so pretty I don't want to cut them into tiny pieces! I'll post a photo when it's done, but don't hold your breath - I've got lots of other projects piled up, including a quilt I'm making for my sister's 40th birthday (she'll be 42 this summer...).

Hi! I was wondering if you have heard who won this Piece Love & Quilts contest. Bernartex promised to announce the winners June 27th, however there has not been a word. I know Bernina is part of it, and a Bernina is the top prize. I have a friend who entered and is one of the winners!
