Project Runway - Series Finale

Wow! What a wonderful and inspiring fashion show that was presented by Bryant Park by the three "Runway" finalists! Not only was the fact that this was the first "all women" finale making me smile, but the collections that were presented made my creative juices flow and mind race. Kenley's color-filled retro-inspired line was beautifully fitting and almost made me consider trying on wider skirts for my next My Label garment. (Think they really do make your waist look smaller?) Korto's incorporation of large and colorful handmade beads on dress straps and necklines would be an easy addition to a garment. I could easily adapt the My Label Camisole or Slip Dress as a starting point there...

However, it was Leann's soft and serene collection of ivory/taupe and blues that stole my heart. Not only did the entired set of ten garments look amazingly unified, they quietly shouted her name from the second she stepped on the runway. Hmmmm, do my garments say "Nancy"? Speaking from a sewer with more years than I care to share, her petal details and almost architectural use of soft silks into structured forms made her the clear winner in my mind. Was delirious that the judges agreed. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next...

So, it's off to my "designer atelier" - my dining room, with my Bernina sewing machine and serger and laptop with My Label software to discover the Bednar look...

Nancy, I couldn't agree with you more about this finale. My daughter, who is only 8, has me dvr this show because it is her favorite. We usually watch it together. I think this was the first finale that I liked everything. Leeann's made me take a 3rd and 4th look though - truly a wonderful collection. My 8 year old that loves this show is always busy creating something on my sewing machines, and she does it all from scratch-no pattern. I wouldn't be surprised if she was shooting for Project Runway someday.
