2008 Sewing Resolutions

It's almost 2008 - what sewing projects do you have planned for the new year? My resolution is to organize my sewing space(s). I moved almost four months ago, and still have boxes stacked in my sewing room - boxes of thread, bins of fabric, bags of trim & lace, containers of sewing tools and presser feet - there's a lot of stuff. Erika redid 
her sewing room about a month ago and it looks great! She's my inspiration, but I think her space might be bigger than mine; maybe it just looks larger because she has it so organized! I have two tiny (8' x 9') bedrooms for my office and sewing room, plus space in the garage for sewing machine boxes, and under the kitchen counter for fabric (I needed something to fill in the space where the dishwasher used to be). Hmmm... I think I'm going to have to take over some of the guest room, too. I've found a plan that might work for me: The Domestic Diva started a Sewing Room Organization Challenge about 6 months ago, and her plan of action and storage suggestions seem like they'd help corral and keep my - ahem - extensive collections in order. Today she posted another in the series, this one on organizing notions - with dozens of ideas for those of us who are organizationally challenged. More on my 2008 sewing resolutions later. What are your sewing resolutions for 2008?

I made my sewing resolution list a few days ago, here's mine:
1. Keep the sewing room clean
2. Become better at alterations (this is an ongoing goal of mine)
3. Stop getting ahead of myself (I have more ideas of what I would like to create than what I have to make them. I tend to buy fabrics and patterns that lay in a pile of 'work in progress' for ages).
4. Sew more gifts for others and keep up with my Etsy shop.
After going through my stash the other day, I'm also (unofficially) adding - sewing more from my stash. I'm not promising I'll keep with that one, but it's the thought that counts with this! LOL
All of the above! My sewing room was actually fairly organized before I spent the last week and a half before Christmas jumping from one ornament project to another and then wrapping gifts in the middle of the mess...but that's what I always love about the New Year...a fresh chance to change old habits!
How do you sign up for the Blog I go into bernina online and it says sign up and then it seems like I'm already signed up or do I need to do something so it comes to my email
My sewing resolution is to finally actually make the Chinese dragon bedspread we talked about (and shopped for) 18 months ago, Jo. And my little girl has just discovered American Girl dolls (heaven protect my bank account!), so I may be making doll clothes.

I find I have to absolutely clean up again after 2 or 3 sewing projects...otherwise, it's a massive reorganization each time.
My resolution this year is big--I'm hoping to launch my boys' clothing line in the wholesale market:

Hi Judith - I don't know if there's a way to have the blog delivered to your mailbox, but if you click on the orange Subscribe via RSS box new posts will be sent to your Favorites folder. I use Internet Explorer, and when I click on the yellow Favorites star at the top of my screen, then select feeds, all of the feeds I subscribe to show up in a list, and those with new posts are in bold.
Hi Lisa - That's a huge undertaking - congratulations on getting the process started (that's the hardest part)! I have four nephews - no nieces - so have always been on the look-out for cute and funky boys clothes. It's a neglected market, so there's definitely sales potential for your Downtown Joey line. Hi Mila - Yeah, that fabric is probably aged sufficiently by now ;) I still haven't stitched that beautiful charcoal wool twill, either, but it's near the top of the stack. When I get it stitched I'll send the leftovers to you for doll clothes! Jo
