Houston Quilt Show - Day 1

Today's the first day of International Quilt Festival in Houston. And here's the star of this year's show, the new 830. If you're at the show, stop by the BERNINA booth to meet our newest addition to the family! While you're there, send us a few lines telling us what you think of the 830, the booth, and the show.

Don't miss the BERNINA Fashion Show, Rendezvous, tonight at Festival, from 6:30-8:30. For those of you that aren't at the show, the next issue of BERNINA of America's Through The Needle magazine is the program for the show, with photos and descriptions of all the garments. And, once the show is over, I'll be able to show photos here at the blog!

I think this machine has it all... larger bobbin, more workspace, even better lighting,... For both embroidery and sewing, there are just too many lovely new features to name.
But, best of all, it's a Bernina!
The name says it all...

I came to the show determined not to be impressed. I left with my deposit on a the waiting list for a new machine. Oh well.

Question: will we be able to turn off the 'instructional videos' that run every time you thread the bobbin, attach a hoop, etc.?

They'll be useful the first couple of times, but VERY annoying after that.

Also, is there a way to have a blank background on the touch screen? Its pretty cluttered as is, and with a pattern in the background and my less than perfect eyesight, I find it very difficult to navigate to find the function I want.

The simulator is a great idea. By the time my machine arrives, I'll already be half way familiar with it.

I loved getting to use the machine, but was very disappointed in what the demo was. It really didn't highlight all of the bells and whistles at all. Bet you'd sell more machines with a better demo.

I have had my deposit down for a while. The machine has a couple of things that I was keeping other machines for. One was the dual feed. I sold my Pffaf with the dual feed and my Bernina 200. I am keeping my 730 for travel and now I am ready for my new machine. It was wonderful to "test drive" it. And I was not disappointed !! Even my friend who was also sewing on the machine across from me yelled out at me, "Lonnie You are so lucky". I am more excited than ever to get my machine and play!!!
