Quick Gifts to Sew #3

The last of my trio of simple-to-make gifts, a boxy pincushion from one of our favorite designers, Heather Bailey of hellomynameisheather. (Her photographs are gorgeous!) This one's a bit trickier because it's 3-D, but that just means you'll have to watch what you're doing and pivot at the corners. Take the guesswork out of knowing when to lower the needle and turn the fabric ; use Patchwork Foot #37, which is exactly 1/4" wide and has marks 1/4" in front of the needle. (Click here for a video demo; pivoting is at the very end.) Who wouldn't want to find one of these sweet pincushions in their stocking?

How do we download Quick Gifts to Sew #3? Do we only have access to the screen version? When I click on the Download Pattern link, I'm asked to sign in to the Better Homes & Garden site or join in order to download. I don't want to have to start signing up for a different sight for every project!

Diane - This is actually a Heather Bailey pattern offered through Better Homes & Gardens, and you are right - they want you to sign up in order to download the pattern. We thought it was such a cool project that we wanted to let our readers know it was available.

In the future, we will be posting some of our own Bernina projects, and we will continue to look for great projects out there on the net. Let us know if you ever run across a great project that you'd like to see on the blog!

I do not want to have to sign up to a site to download a project.

I downloaded the pattern because I was already a member at BHG, however the pattern pieces are very small and the finished project is supposed to be 1" by
3 3/4". I can't see any instructions to enlarge the pattern - please advise
Thanks

Hi - I posted a comment before but it didn't show up so I hope I'm not repeating myself. Anyway, I downloaded the pincushion pattern but it is much smaller than the finished dimensions listed. There are no instructions to enlarge the pattern - please advise

Thanks!

Pam - It looks like they've printed the pattern at half scale. Since there are only two pieces, and seam allowances are marked, you could make it any size you want.
